About
keybamine is a typing trainer inspired by the way professional musicians practice, designed to help you improve your typing speed.
How so? You don't practice a musical instrument by mindlessly noodling through entire pieces. Instead, you repeat short sections several times, slowly and deliberately. The same goes for typing. keybamine serves you the words you need to practice, and makes it fun!
The game has two main challenges β the speedtest and quests. What they have in common is that it's always better to complete the lines correctly than to type quickly.
The speedtest π part keeps track of the fastest time you've ever typed a word. Each word is measured separately, and you can see your current average in the sidebar. Speedtest lines are your chance to improve those times. Keep it smooth, though - intermittent high WPM bursts wonβt work.
In order to see speedtest lines, you need an active repeat lines streak π β the higher your streak, the more speedtest lines you will get. Repeat lines are great for deliberate practice and getting your adaptive fingering right. Pay close attention to what your fingers are doing.
The bulk of your practice consists of regular lines πΏ, which are drawn from a subset of your word list. The app regularly refreshes this subset, so you get focused practice on a few words at a time. They also let you earn the opportunity to try your hand at the other challenge.
Quests π’ let you compete with yourself on the hardest words in your list. Whenever you chase down that horrible, horrible monster, the lines consist solely of the words you're currently weakest at.
Finally, nothing beats a little bit of typing practice every day, and a single correct line is already enough to update your daily streak π₯.
Heads up: keybamine is currently in alpha. Breaking changes may occur.
